Individual Therapy

Expanding self-inquiry into unknown territory

“Love, wisdom, grace, inspiration—how do you go about finding these things that are in some ways about extending the boundaries of the self into unknown territory, about becoming someone else”

— Rebecca Solnit, A Field Guide to Getting Lost

What to Expect in Individual Therapy

Inquiry

Inquiry into your values and where they are active in your life. Live the questions - by inviting increased awareness of your values and putting them into practice with more intention.

Curiosity

Invite curiosity towards all the things and all the feelings - especially the ways you cope with stress and protect yourself from hurt. Life is hard and you don’t need to figure it out by yourself!

Courage

Practice being brave and increase your capacity to do hard things. Since we are all unique, I can’t guarantee a “safe” space, but I will endeavor to be kind and accountable.

Unlearn & Relearn

Unlearn old ways of being and acting that no longer work for who you are becoming. Learning to let go of others’ expectations of you. Develop new strategies that reflect your values.

Integration

Integrate meaningful practices and realistic changes gradually over time. Focus on what you need now and what you can sustainably maintain over time.

Somatics

Body, breath, and mind are intimately connected and influence each other. Recognize and honor these connections through somatic tools and practices that are deeply impactful and healing.

Respect

Offer respect and gratitude to the parts of you that have learned to cope and protect against stressors and adversity, even when those strategies aren’t working or have harmful consequences.

Mindfulness

What is obvious? What is subtle? Increase your insight and self-awareness by bringing attention to what is unconscious, uncomfortable, or unknown.

Where to begin?

Starting Individual Therapy

FREE — Video or Phone Introduction

Schedule a free 15-minute introductory video or phone call to meet me and discuss what brings you to therapy. During this call, we will:

  • Discuss the process of getting started, including logistics, pricing, and what guides me as a therapist

  • Briefly explore what you are seeking in therapy and what you want to focus on

  • Answer any questions you have

  • Gather information so you can make an informed decision

$200 — Intake Session (80 min)

To learn what is important to you and gather information about your history, the first session is up to 80 minutes long. Before your session, you will receive paperwork to complete online using the HIPAA secure client portal.

  • Part One: Intake Consent Documents - These agreements clarify our roles and commitments as the client and the therapist. Please take your time as you read and sign them. If you have any questions, we can discuss them during the intake session.

  • Part Two: Intake Assessments - Answer questions about what brings you to therapy, potential safety concerns, and your goals for our time together. This information will help me support your current needs and goals.

$125 — Ongoing Sessions (50 min)

Up to 50 minutes each. We will discuss the frequency that matches your goals and availability. In general, I recommend beginning with weekly sessions to build rapport and create momentum toward your goals. Over time, the frequency can be adapted to meet your evolving needs.

Our Agreements

The intake paperwork will include information about our roles and agreements as therapist and client. Here are some highlights you may find helpful now.

  • Self-Pay Only.

Superbills are available for clients to submit for potential reimbursement from their insurance company.

Please note: It is the client’s responsibility to confirm before beginning therapy that your insurance will reimburse for therapy sessions through an out-of-network provider.

  • Payment is due at the session and can be paid via cash, check, credit card, or Health Savings Account (HSA).

  • Please cancel or reschedule all appointments with at least 24 hours notice, or the full session fee will be due. Please note, I will keep a credit card on file to charge in case of a no-show or late cancellation.

  • If all documents and assessments are not completed at least 24 hours before the intake session, the session will be canceled and the full session fee will be due. If you need an alternative way to complete the documents, please notify me as soon as possible.
